Study in Otago hasn't been going as smoothly as I would have liked. Fingers crossed 2nd time's the charm. Studying harder than I ever had this year cos my life and a buttload of money depends on it. Nobody's going to read this for months anyways, I bet. Hopefully by then I'd have passed the exams and gone on to be a trainee intern, or even started working... based on the frequency I'm making blog posts.

2nd post from New Zealand ;p

Hiya everyone,

Bet it'll be days before anyone reads this. Life here's been good, the people here are mostly friendly and helpful. I've completed 4 runs out of 6 so far, feel kinda incompetent sometimes, otherwise its all good. Probably won't do much blogging in the near future but I'll do my best.

I've been having to travel for quite a bit... and in about 5 minutes time I'm going to be off to the Kenepuru hospital for some stupid tutorials and lectures about psychogeriatrics. I miss the good old days where all I had to do was mug on theoretical stuff... I regret not studying harder. Neurology's biting my ass at the moment... Don't think I like it very much at all.

Anyways that's it for now. I'm going to be studying in the Wellington School of Medicine which is under the University of Otago. Took a 9 hour flight from Malaysia to Auckland with Carl Lin. It was pretty hard breaking to be leaving home, leaving Malaysia, leaving all my friends. Yew Weng and Melissa came to send me off at the airport. It was the first time I took a flight, all along I was pretty worried about being stopped by the customs officers but everything went pretty well.

The flight itself was fun and enjoyable, getting to fly with Carl Lin. There were meals provided, and a cool LCD computer to watch movies in front of everyone's seats. We arrived at Auckland at 12:30pm (local time) and then walked over to the domestic flights section to catch the next plane. Her to Wellington and myself to Christchurch.

So here I am now in a hotel in Christchurch, I met up with Cheok Soon and Rae Na last night and we cooked up ABC soup and fried cabbage and ate them with rice. Slept at 1am and woke up at 12pm this afternoon... I must have been really tired, or maybe not accustomed to the time here yet. After all, 12pm here is about 7am back in Malaysia.

That's it for now I guess, I'll be updating my blog further with more adventures and experiences from New Zealand. Stay tuned!

Jacob

2006, a new year huh?

Its been a while since I've last posted.... I've been pretty busy of late...

Studying's getting more stressful. I felt I didn't do well enough in Endocrine... even worse so in repro. Had my mind bogged down by some stuffs starting 2nd week of repro.. my b'day celebration and all... It was fun, perhaps I'll post some of the photos here when I get them processed.

As for my New Year's resolution:

1. Pass all exams and summative assessments!
2. Cut down some weight... this one's gonna be hard
3. Improve on my communication skills
4. My car's not been acting properly lately so well... better not risk driving too far. There's the IMU cup chinese chess competition today. Chaozer had asked me to participate last week, so I took it up. Wasn't too hard to learn considering I had the basics from chess, but I had to familiarize myself with it.

In the first game, we were up against sem 1. I was placed in the third board... Was winning pretty much.. until my opponent came up with a time crisis! Sheesh... I lost because I tried to play my opponent out of time... ended up blundering and losing big time. We went to have lunch, Chaozer, Jackson, Yi Ning, Jin-Yu and I. Jin-Yu came to support and cheer for us.

In the second match, I ran out of time and blundered... demanded a draw, but to no avail... in my desperation, I missed a chance to draw the game and lost it. The third game... I was down on time... losing, I kept my calm and played as quickly as possible. I was winning when my opponent's time went up... So, I won ^^

Fourth game wasn't much to talk about... the pharmacy students apparently couldn't wait to lose and get out of there to go play DotA... sheesh...

For the fifth game against sem 5, I had Ven Gee substitute me against Teng Hong... He played pretty superbly and won. Chaozer won 4 games and drew one...

Our batch ended 3rd... Not too bad really, its a nice experience... and we improved from last year's results of 4th place.

Aiming A for Endocrine...

Heya guys and girls,

Its been pretty long since I last posted. Yes I made it through the resits, I'm in semester 4 right now, studying endocrinology. Been studying really hard lately, I guess after a near-death experience... I've finally awakened.. or rather, ermm... died to my life? Oh well anyway... the life of a medical student is about studying, studying and studying. All day and night, and maybe a few breaks here and there... I guess its not how many hours I slack off that matters, but of the time I spend studying instead.

So anyways, its 4 days into endocrinology now. Dozed off in lectures yesterday... totally slept off today. Its not such a big deal I suppose, as long as I make the effort to catch up with it. In the past, things just piled up as I napped away happily ( maybe unhappily ;p ) during lectures... and when I started studying for exams, everything looked foreign to me. Memorising and remembering facts was really hard when you don't know your stuff inside out. Medicine's not for lazy asses, so... either don't take it, or change into a hardworking ass.

Cheers!

Resits...

Yeap, resits... It comfy having people like that to talk to ^_^

Didn't get much studying done.... oh well, at least its studying. The trip there was funny and scary. He was a pretty intelligent guy and somehow had this feeling of wanting to get to know him. We were from different classes and hence I wasn't able to make much of a contact. In standard 6, we were inevitably brought together in the same class due to the streaming ( Heaven knows what'd happened if I didn't >.< )

I guess our friendship started based on interests... we were both into games and computers. I'd been meddling with computers since before then. And so, we traded games to play. Of the few I remember would be X-Com and Seawolf. We'd talk away about them. I'd gone to his house a few times that year.

We walked to school together in high school, sat together, and the things we talked about started including guy stuffs... like about relationships, girls and sex. He's always the mature and knowledgable one, able to maintain his cool and as for me, I was hot-headed and bad tempered.

I still remember the time at the end of form 2 and the whole of form 3... I was framed of molesting a girl and my reputation pretty much went into the shit-hole at her school and mine. I was shunned and hated by the whole of my class, I guess not so much because of that... but because of my attitude and behavior. There was a time where someone went around the whole school spraying obscenities about me, some of them in town even... but worse of all, in my class! So well, our whole class got together and repainted the class.... and sadly history repeated itself. I really don't understand how some people can be so inconsiderate. If it were just me at fault then they should have directed their angers at me, not class property...

So anyway, there was this once where Mr.Lee finally decided to step in. He wanted to know what the class thought of me... asked me to step out of class, and said whomever wanted to accompany me to do so. And well, none but two stepped out with me. He was one of them, Yew Weng the other. I remember it till this day, the day when the whole world betrayed me... turned their backs against me... a true friend would step out.

I still remember the times we were studying at his place for PMR, the three of us.. Yew Weng, him and I. Mugged hard for history and geography while listening to songs or chatting at times... Turned out we did pretty well and score straight A's. Well, for me it was an achievement. I felt that for him, it was the matter of maintaining that standard.

We'd play badminton weekly since form 4 and it carried on through college days, whereby I went to Sunway and he, to Taylor's. Unsurprisingly, he did pretty excellently in SAM and then went off to Melbourne Uni in Australia to study medicine.

Once he phoned me all the way from Australia to make sure I was alright when I broke up with my ex...

There are just so many years to write about, so many things that happened together...

He is Christopher, my good buddy. I guess friendships are pretty much dictated by fate, but that much is just where you come to meet a person... the rest is really up to yourself. It is no different from getting to know a girl/guy whom you like...

Well, anyway... I'm glad to have wonderful friends. ^_^

Damn IMU

Grrrrr!!! I still remember feeling kinda uneasy about the newness of everybody. The only few people I knew from before were Wei Shen, Evelyn and Kok Chuan. Our first fascilitator was Dr.Jag... she was really nice and apparently is quite strict with the others. Next, we had Dr. Lawrence... he was the guy who redefined PBL for us, guided us, taught us our purpose and our roles in PBL. Initially we were pretty much afraid of him cos he was really serious and joked with a serious face, we eventually broke the ice and found him to be knowledgable and funny! We had 3 really nice fascilitators after that... Dr.Nagarajah, Dr. P.Kumar and Dr. John Paul Judson.

Throughout this one year, we've had CSU's together, gone for clinic visits together, basically for most of the activities in IMU. I've gotten to know each and every member of my group and it was really fun being with them, being around them. Our group dynamics is superb.

Its pretty saddening that yesterday was the last PBL session and we'd probably be going on our own ways in other groups in the future..... We took some photos with Wei Shen and Jin-Yu's cameras so I guess I'd have some pictures to post later on.

To my group members :

Jin-Yu
Wan Noraida
Baxter
Wei Lun
Hafiz
Wei Shen
Marilyn
Kok Chuan
Evelyn
Arathi

Thanks for all these enjoyable and fun times!! That got me thinking... will friends stay friends even if I can't find the time to chat them up? I'd lost some pretty close friends due to time constrains and distance, guess its just the matter of giving a call or sending an SMS... but I guess I'm just too busy or lazy to do so sometimes. Wonder if some of them still remember me, ohh well....

I've got friends from high school, from college, from the internet, from internet gaming, from uni, my PBL group... so many of them, many of which I've lost contact with... but many of which I still do keep in touch with and I'd say these are the best ones. Life must go on, everyone will lead their own lives and walk their own paths... Just can't help wondering what the future has in store for me and everyone else around me. Fate had it this way...

Life, oh life~!

Been really tired and worn out lately, sleeping in classes, mind wandering... It was a pretty hard time. Its the weekend now, finally! And as to Chris and Sunny's comments from my previous post... yes B- is a fail, its just crazy hopeless... but I'm gonna have to give it my all... GI isn't too hard really, I just wanna do my very best in this and hopefully score something more on the positive side..... like... A- =p

I'm not stupid, I'm just not studying enough (at least that's what I believe)... laziness takes its toll on me every now and then... need to focus all my energy into studying hard. I've been covering some of the Foundation 2 material... a lil of immunology to be exact. It shifts my progress from nil to 5%, yay!! An achievement >.<

Went jogging earlier, I'm not too tired right now as I didn't overdo myself by jogging the whole time... basically just walking for most of the time... I believe it helps. Hopefully my 6-month-old-fetus-like tummy will reduce in size soon, ^_^

Cheers!

Failed Hemato

I just got my results today, got a B- for hematology... Lectures were pretty heavy today, was tired halfway through the second lecture so it took a lot of effort to absorb what the visiting lecturer, Dr. Margaret Sheehan was babbling about. She's not bad really, but tends to get monotonous after sometime and it just causes my mind to drift...

Went jogging at 6, after a heck long time of not doing much exercise... sad to say, I was totally exhausted by 1 1/2 laps around the playground... spent most of my time walking though. I'm just back from Shah Alam. Had a pretty nice time today. Went to uni for PBL at 12, and then had lunch with my bunch of PBL mates... Lecture was about multiple myeloma.... halfway through, I drifted off =p

Left for Taylor's College after lectures and reached there at about 4:30... then pick Carl Lin up and went to Sunway Pyramid. We hung out there for a while before going to here place. Her dad started talking to me a bit, what a relief ^_^

We went to a Thai restaurant at Shah Alam Mall for dinner. The foods weren't really spicy... but was delicious! The toufu, tom yam soup and clams were yummy. The spicy chicken didn't taste as good though... Oh well, so after that we went back to her place and had cake. So, here I am now making this post

Happy Birthday Yaw Yee!

Today is Yaw Yee's birthday, after lectures Chaozer asked if I could fetch him to Secret Recipe to buy a birthday cake for Yaw Yee, as they were having a birthday party for him. He invited me to come along so I thought about it for a bit... considering that I had to teach tuition at 8pm. We sat down there to have cake... I ordered yogurt cheese cake and recommended Chocolate Indulgence to Chaozer, remembering bout the time when I'd tried it with Carl Lin the other time.

My cake was quite disappointing... the cheese didn't feel cheesy at all, just like eating cake with yogurt. We chatted a bit, about girls and relationships... and then he ordered a whole Black Forest for the birthday. I decided to go celebrate with them, after all... it'd be fun.

Went there, and basically hung around with Baxter, Yaw Yee, Chaozer and Xian Nian until the rest came. Of those who came were Jin-Yu, Poh Tian, Johan, Kian Woon, Zulhairy, Anthony and Yi Ning. They ordered pizza, which was quite quickly finished... and then Yew Yee had bought fizzly drinks and a bottle of liquor.... all which were corked and sadly we had no cork opener >.< not only that, we didn't have plates or cups either =p

So we managed to get the corks off the fizzly drinks, and as for the liquor... I stuffed the cork down into the bottle with a pair of scissors... took 3 sips of it and felt a warm flush down my throat... drove back telling myself not to feel drunk =p

Went to teach tuition, and then here I am typing this post...

Feeling really tired...... have to cram for CSU tomorrow though.... sigh

Stuck in traffic jam for eternity!

I woke early at 7 to go to uni as we had to make a clinic visit to DBKL in Cheras again today. When I reached there it was drizzling, and only Marilyn was there... Wei Shen had called while I was on the way saying that he'd be late as he was caught in a traffic jam, and also told me that Hafiz would be late as well (due to stomach ache)...

We decided to drive, so Wei Lun and I drove down to Cheras... not knowing where exactly the clinic was, I head along Leasure Mall and stopped to ask for directions at a petrol station... sadly the clinic was actually on the other side, and we had to make a U-turn and got stuck in a massive 3++km traffic jam, sheesh! We left uni at 7:55 and arrived at the clinic at 9:45.... >.<

Didn't really do much there, but we got to learn suturing... on a sponge. Too bad there wasn't a real patient... but then again, having no prior experience at all... probably woulda been better if we victimized the sponge instead. =p

We left at about 12 and had lunch at Food Avernue in uni. I was pretty much sleeping throughout the first lecture... must have been the swimming yesterday. I stayed awake through the second lecture cos it was carried out by the dreaded Dr. Timothy Song... he's just a little too sadistic as a lecturer... brings chills down my spines.

Swimming......

This is the third time I'm typing this post... and hopefully I'll remember to copy everything to clipboard before clicking on the 'Publish Post' button because the last two times it totally screwed up. Grrrrr!!

So well, I woke up at 6:45am... got ready my stuffs and set off for Carl Lin's place at 7:15. I reached there at about 8... however, the swimming pool isn't open till 9 so I went in to sit for a while. Carl Lin's dad was pretty grumpy I guess, wasn't exactly friendly..... So at 8:45am Khang Min, Carl Lin and I set off for the pool. We got changed into our swimwear and jumped (not literally >.< ) into the pool. My baby looks pretty good in swimsuit ^_^ As for me... the swimming trunks I was wearing was pretty kinky, haha.

So I basically spent the first hour or so learning to hold my breath and practice control over it. Swam a little, swallowed a little water, got my ears clogged up... It was fun =p

At about 11, we went to shower at the toilet cum changing room. We went to KFC to have breakfast and then went to shop for some stuffs as Khang Min wanted to make salad. So we got back to Carl Lin's place and just hung around... then her dad came back, and brought us to Pizza Hut for lunch. Still felt a bit intimidated by her dad though... hope he'll eventually take a liking towards me.

After lunch, we just hung around and I helped her a bit on her assignments. Sigh... poor SAM students... >.<

I left at 5:30pm and took Carl Lin for a spin before heading home. It was a fun day!

Swimming trunks

Went shopping with mom and bro at Bintang supermarket in Sg. Study! Study!!!

Heya guys and girls, been quite some time since I've last posted... been occupied with studies lately. I did pretty well for my respi exams, pretty sure I can pass this time... wanna score B+ or higher.

Woke up at 6am today, went down to Subang to see Carl Lin. Had breakfast until her classes started at 10am... then went walking around window shopping and buying books for my tutees. Met her and her friends back for lunch at 11am. I ate baked riced with pork chop and tomato... came with corn soup and ice milked tea as a set... it wasn't bad. After that, headed to uni... met Chung on the way from vista B, so accompanied him to lunch as he was 'very hungry'...

Lectures today were pretty boring, but I stayed awake through both of them... Supposedly there was PBL today, however due to a miscommunication... everyone else didn't know that it was changed to today at 4pm... so, we decided to put it back till tomorrow. Ohh well, at least I've prepared my part on that... so, no worries. ^_^

Just back from teaching tuition. Got paid RM100 for last month's fees for the twin brothers. Not bad eh?

Ahh well, its IMU open day today. I woke up at 8:30am... reached IMU at about 9:15. There wasn't much to do and we weren't really clear on what to do either. So well, the bunch of us tour guides gathered up and received instructions. at 10:45am, we led the prospective clients of IMU around the place and giving a pretty much thorough tour... not that there's much to see around IMU anyway. It felt like.... sheparding lambs. Talking ones. =P Now that's reminding me of the roast lamb for Pak Lun's birthday.... yummy yum! The sauce was delicious and sour... anyway back to topic...

After giving the first tour, I went to claim my lunch (we got a lunch coupon each) from the reception. Fried rice with egg and anchovies, its pretty decent... no complaints there. Saw Khang Min first, then Carl Lin and her family. So, brought them around for a tour. Sat through the talk about the medical course with them as well. It was kinda weird though... sitting there listening to the whole talk and knowing the workings around IMU, I could as well just stand up front there and give the talk myself. Carl Lin and her family had to go home after the talk. I resumed my duties which was giving a guided tour about pharmacy by the way... sheesh! Seems they were having a lack of people.... guess only medic people are that free to go around giving tours? =p

Leg muscles were aching and my feet were crampy whole day long, due to basketball yesterday... it was quite a chore walking up and down the stairs. After every went off, I just hung around with Joseph in the student lounge where we talked about Christianity and as usual, fending off attempted brainwash. I respect each religion as they are and it is actually quite interesting to study them, and know how their beliefs work. But well, to me... the main purpose of religion is for self improvement, to guide humans in their way of life. To set limits and boundaries for weak-minded people who need some sort of security to hold on to. Talking about sin... a sin is a sin when it is a sin to yourself and only applies to yourself. To be judgemental about others sinning, or following set standards of what is sinning... well, I'd suppose to me, that's a sin. =p Thank goodness to Hippocrates many thousand years ago, there's such a thing called law. Now that's something worth believing in... and lawyers make a living out of it too.

And no, I don't believe in what's gonna happen after I die. I do believe that I have to live my life the very best because there's only one go at it... life is a game without a save/load option. Whatever decisions we make, whatever mistakes we make... the consequences will befall upon ourselves. Life is meant to be lived the way a person wants to live it. I do believe and hope that everyone around is doing that. Be it those of the religious sort or those who are not. It is important to have faith in what you believe in, expecially when it comes to religions. Don't preach what you wouldn't do. Incestuous rape cases in the newspapers are solid proof. ;-)

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://lwtan.blogspot.com/2005/03/imu-open-day-sold-my-soul-to-devil-for.html' title='IMU open day, sold my soul to the devil for 30 bucks. Left house at 7am, but reached her house at around 8 because I got lost on the way... was being adventurous and tried yet another different route. Went to play with Khang Min and Woan Ling. Just upon reaching, we were invited to a 6 on 6 full court game... with 2 girls on each side. Carl Lin and Woan Ling just step out to sit and hence the opposition 2 girls also stopped playing.... sheesh, girls and basketball...

So well, we lost terribly... cos our team were a bunch of idiotic kiddos who didn't know how to play basketball. Kept attempting 3-point shots when its pretty obvious they'd never hit one in. Later on played 1 on 1 against Khang Min... the game ended at 4-1. He was on like one of the greatest missed shot streak in history, I was still pretty much rusted. So all in all, its a fair game =P

Went to Carl Lin's house after that to bathe, forgot to bring down my towel... had to dry myself doggie style. >.<

Had breakfast of noodles at her place then went to Giant to shop for the stuff we needed to bake shepard's pie. I left my phone in the car under the hot sun..... and it ended up being baked... couldn't on it, the battery was swollen... felt in quite a worried and bad mood then. Drove back home with Carl Lin. Mom was home, so this is the first time they're meeting. We got down to work, preparing the potatoes and gravy... we also made spaghetti. The pie was a lil overbaked, but still alright. The spaghetti was nice. Yum!

Drove Carl Lin home at around 7pm, we reached there at 8... and then went to a handphone shop to service my handphone. I bought myself a new one, Nokia 3100 ^_^
Its pretty nice! Costed me RM430... the repair charge was RM60 and I got myself a reload card for RM60 as well. So.... all in all, I'm officially broke. Sent her home and then went home... reached at 10:10pm... it was a fun way to spend a day. Was nice that the pie and spaghetti turned out alright. Too bad my handphone got baked as well =p

Clinical visit, revisited

I slept at 4am last night and had to wake up at 6:30am to drive to Uni cos we'd agreed to go to the clinic we were supposed to visit by LRT. Was supposed to meet there at 7:45am, and I was actually late by a few minutes... turns out I was the earliest. Sheesh... talk about Malaysian time....

Anyway, we walked to the LRT station and took the train to the Maluri station. Was feeling so tired and sleepy all the while. We reached there and actually walked the wrong way until we asked a traffic policman and he redirected us. So well, we were walking along the right track when we saw two dogs having sex. And wow, new position! Butt to butt! Really brings a new definition to doggie style huh? =p

We reached the clinic we were supposed to go to - Bandaraya Clinic (for bandaraya staff and their kins only). We were brought around to look at drugs, needles and stuff. We got to watch an Incision and Drainage (IND) procedure by a doctor. It looked really painful as he cut off an Indian woman's blister (...or boil, whatever it is). Then we were taken into the dispensary to see more drugs... and after that we were posted to doctors to watch them examine patients.

We finished at 11:45am, then walked to Jaya Jusco near-by to have lunch. Went to eat at Long John Silvers. Here's a warning note to everyone : - DO NOT EAT AT LONG JOHN SILVERS!

Why? Cos they con people! Combo meal 2 - 1 chicken, 1 fish, fries and drinks RM8.90... combo meal 3 - 1 chicken, 1 fish, 2 'shrimp', fries and drinks RM10.90

So I thought, what the heck go for combo 3 la, got shrimp.... looked like it was about half the size of the fish... what turned out were 2 bloody measly tiny prawns! RM1 each... sheesh... and what's worse... they use plastic knifes and forks and styrofoam plates... They sell a rice set, supposedly value meal but they don't even provide spoons. Nope, not even plastic spoon... friends had to eat the rice with their forks and knives. Now I know why noone ever goes there. Well, I must say though the fries are pretty cheap, crispy and hot. Not bad at all.

Took train back to uni, and then went for lectures... I zoned out during the first lecture, but managed to stay awake during the second one about lung cancer. I guess the way lectures are presented makes a difference... same goes for PBL presentation. I never bother to absorb boringly read presentations... because it just doesn't have enough appeal. Interactive presentations are far better... gotta work on my skills though, don't know if I'm lacking in any aspect... would be nice to have feedback from my PBL mates.

Dreams

I woke up at 4:30am this morning from a nightmare, it was really scary and saddening. Chatted with Carl Lin on the phone till about 6am then went back to sleep. Then had another weird dream... where I had to play weird games with my PBL mates, stuff like picking up coins from the mud with my mouth... sheesh!

Taught tuition today, have to teach the standard five twin brothers... wonder how much I'm gonna get paid... yum! Ahahaha. They were okay, had to teach them based on their Chinese books, as they're learning Maths in Chinese. Oh well, at least they understand English. That makes things a lot easier.

Parked my car at the IMU basketball court for the car wash today. Wonder if its being washed anyway... the lectures today were okay, I dozed off during the first lecture. However, I managed to stay awake and absorb during the second lecture about acute rhinittis and athsma...

Going off for PBL now.

Monday.... good day?

Woke up at 7 this morning, somehow slept on till 8... felt sleepy all day long. Went to teach tuition... came back, had lunch then drove to uni. Eyes were aching, probably from the glare... felt like closing em and sleeping off. I was late for the first lecture... sat in front, and actually dozed off. Sheesh... wasn't really awake for the second lecture either...

Anyway, went to Sunway Pyramid with Carl Lin and bro last Saturday, watched '5 Children and IT'. It wasn't really anything spectacular... pretty boring and kiddy in fact, but well... it was bro's first time going to cinema in his 5 years of life and he wouldn't really understand any of the other shows we woulda wanted to watch. After the movie, went to Mc.D to eat (more unhealthy food >.< ) ..... and then went bowling, thumb's still sore for the tiny thumbhole on the 11-pound balls. Went to Kim Gary's for dinner. Ordered cheese baked rice with fish chop with Italian red sauce. ^_^ not bad really.

I wonder if there's any title better than 'Tired!'

Ahhhhhh...... I got screwed up by Dr.Timothy Song for not having a tie... luckily the Sister was kind enough to lend me a tie... again. Geee.... well CSU went on pretty smoothly. I went to the library to study the mechanism of breathing... couldn't understand a single thing, so I just read blindly...

Took results at 11 something... I scored C+ for CVS..... shit! Ohh well not like its unexpected... I'm not someone who grieves over failures for long... gonna pull up my socks and work harder this time round. I want an A for respi!!

Went to lunch with the guys at 12, then back to the library to study... was feeling really tired, couldn't really absorb much of the two lectures... after classes, I rushed of to do my CVS community clinic report to hand in before five..... ended up that my format was wrong and I'm given till Friday to hand in. Ohh well, sure hope she does well. Went to Uni straight after teaching tuition... went to the library and studied clinical examination before finally feeling too tired and slept there. Lectures were okay, I wasn't sleepy to the point where I couldn't absorb anything. Dr.Reddy is kinda monotonous though. PBL today was great! Everyone's more enthusiastic as ever to carry on Dr.Lawrence's ideology, everyone's worked up and keen on studying. Makes me feel that there's still hope around the corner, that if I worked hard enough, I'll actually succeed

Finally, an update huh?

Haven't been feeling much like blogging in the past few weeks.... Semester 3 just started yesterday. I've gotta work way harder for the systems course to come. Just found out that Sunny didn't make it pass his repeat... its really saddening, he tried hard and he's not lousy either... spent so much of his life around IMU and it had to turn out this way... take care Sunny, life will have a better path for you to walk.

I'm feeling afraid... don't think I'll wanna repeat the semester if I screw up again this time. Only few of them came though...

On the second day, I went out with Yew Weng, Chee Leong and the guys at night to play DotA. (life gets sad from here onwards...)

On the third day, I went out with Chris, Chee Leong, Yew Weng, and the bunch of Kok Ming's gang. We went to Times Square, walked to The Ship to eat steak... I ordered lamb chop, wasn't cheap though... After that, we walked back to Times Square to watch Constantine. It was a pretty okay movie, not too bad... the take-home message was... smoking kills ^_^ , so to those idiots out there who are smoking... its time to drop it. (like anyone heeds this kinda advice anyway... sheesh). We went to Sungei Wang to bowl after that, but it was pretty expensive there so we ended up doing nothing. At night went to play DotA, Chris couldn't make it though. It was quite a full house, with almost 16 of us there... getting sad huh? Went to mamak after that.

On the fourth day, we were supposed to go visiting but no one had planned anything so I just stayed home. At 5, went out to buy gifts and passed Mel the webcam which she'd 'tumpang' me to buy. Bought stuff for Carl Lin and Chris... then at 7, Chee Leong fetched Yew Weng and I to dinner. With Chris of course, was really nice ^_^ and then at night... guess what? DotA again... so we went and played till about 12:30 or so, then went home. Guess that'll be all the gaming I'll have for quite some time... everyone's going back to studies or back overseas. Gonna be kinda lonely... ohh well, life goes on.

On the fifth day, went to visit Carl Lin.. brought my bro along. It was nice getting to see her and her mom was super friendly... enjoyed being there.

On Valentine's day (14th Feb), went to pick Carl Lin up from her college and headed to Sunway Pyramid. We didn't have enough time to catch a movie cause I had to go pick her cousin up at Taylor's by 6 and send them home. We just walked around not doing much... but I was pretty much satisfied. Its the quality time spent that matters, rather than what is done during that time.

That night went out for dinner, bro choked on a fish-bone... It got stuck in his throat. Went to the hospital and waited for like eternity before the doctor saw him, and when she did she had this sarcastic tone and wouldn't do anything, saying that her MA's (medical assistants) couldn't see anything. That bitch!! What kind of a useless doctor is that?? She could have at least made an effort to check on him herself. If one day when I become a doctor and she's gotten into a major accident or something, I'm gonna throw that shit back at her face for sure. Well, I guess looking at things from a patient's point of view... there really is a certain set of expectations from going to see a doctor, and that doctor really failed my expectations totally... even if there was nothing which could be done, she could have at least minded her manners and sarcasm. So all we got was paracetamol and a referal letter to a specialist should things worsen... sigh... reached home at about 1:30am, wasted like 2 hours at the hospital for nothing! Gets me really pissed... these kinda things. To think that being a doctor was a noble profession... just the sight of those kind of doctors make me balk. To all you batchmates out there who are reading... make sure you guys keep your sarcasm checked and mind your manners yeah, =P

Yesterday nothing much happened, just went for lab rotations... nothing much to see anyway. Same goes for today, and that's why I'm sitting here posting.

Happy Chinese New Year!

I've just woke up, things are still a blur to me... I haven't been updating for like... almost a week. Gotta get my lazy bones to work or else my blog will eventually end up like the many, many abandoned blogs out there which I've come across. I'm not one to leave things hanging so I'll try to keep this alive for as long as I can. Its Chinese New Year today, I haven't been updating for quite some time... few days back, on the 5th Feb I went over to Pak Lun's place for his birthday party and stayed till Monday (7th Feb). It was pretty much fun.

Been playing Sid Meier's Pirates for the past few days. It is really interesting and fun... and somewhat addictive, =P Well, having the game crash from hour to hour isn't exactly a good thing... but it keeps me aware of the time, or else I'd be a zombie by now. Don't know what more to say... maybe later, when something interesting happens

Tired, tired, tired

Haven't been updating for the past few days, I guess I probably won't update much on the past... the last two days of the KKB trip were pretty fine too, was happy to get back... but back at IMU... I found that some idiot had stolen my number plate. Sheesh! Oh well, that's over now... The day after I came home, I stayed overnight at Chris' place with Yew Weng, Sunny and Chee Leong. We played DotA at a cyber cafe till like 5 something and then went back to his house, couldn't really sleep so continued playing Fatal Frame 2. I eventually fell asleep in front of those ghosts on the screen =P

Yesterday was tired at water treatment lecture by Dr. Ranjit De Alwis, he showed us a film about the Minamata's disease... it was pretty saddening, the people went into convulsions... lost control over their body... eventually died. At 12pm I went to Subang to meet Carl Lin. After having lunch and walking for about an hour or so, her class finished and we went to The Summit to hang out. I sent her and her cousin, Kang Ming, home... we got lost cos of a wrong turning so we almost ended up on our way to Ipoh, hehehe. It was fun though... eventually got them back safely then drove home. Reached home at about 7:30, bathed then went out to shop and have dinner. I got myself a new shampoo, my current one stinks... smells like ginseng, yuck!

I woke up late today, I slept past the alarm... there was supposed to be presentation at 8 till 10 today but I woke up at about 7:45am. So I spent like 5 minutes preparing and printing my material before leaving for uni. I'm pretty surprised I presented quite okay, but not really up to par with what I believe I can do... if only I had not been so lazy and overslept. Oh well, after I did my presentation I was practically sleeping for most of the time while the others were presenting. Feel kinda bad, but well... what can I say? Their presentations are no more interesting than my own, which was probably boring anyway...

Had an argument with parents this morning, so I'm still in uni updating my blog before I go home... wait for em to cool down.

Trip to Frazer's Hill

I'm gonna discribe my experience in Frazer's Hill on Tuesday (25th January) in a new post because I've updated my previous post and it was really really long, I guess.

I woke up at 9:30, prepared everything and we left the house at 9:45am. Walked to town, the girls we going to town in Lee Keng's car so they didn't join us walking. We bought 18 tickets, it was RM2.80 each, and surprisingly, in the bus there were only 3 other people aside from the whole bunch of us. The trip up Frazer's Hill was pretty long, the road was winding. Twisted here and there. I was pretty much dizzy by the time we reached there... couldn't walk straight, head was spinning a lil and felt a bit nauseous. We didn't have transport down cos the bus comes at 2:30pm but we reached there at about 11am, so wanted to hang around longer and have some fun before going back. So we went over to the information counter and asked the guy there to help us find some sort of transport back down to KKB.

After things were settled, we walked to a resort which has the Flying Fox. The surroundings were really beautiful, the flower gardens... the air was cool and felt really good. I felt so much at peace... much more than have ever been in a long long time. We took some photos here and there, I'd like to get some of em from the guys soon. When we reached the resort, we found out that the Flying Fox was closed, so was the archery... what was left is basketball. So we ate first, I must say... the foods there are really expensive, and the portions aren't any larger than usual. I had grilled chicken. Ben Shen kept the atmosphere going good by asking riddles and telling jokes. I like that guy, he's full of fun and never runs out of jokes.

Having done eating, we rented the basketball and headed to the court to play. To my disbelief, the rims were actually super low that all of us guys could just slam the ball in... haha it was really funny though. The first matched we had Alex and 7 girls against 4 guys (Ben Shen, Chu Kin, Wei Ming and I). We lost... sheesh..... what to do? Blame the low low rim lor =P I missed shots because I'm really not used to shooting at that height. In reality, can't even touch the board, what more slamming. The second game was 5 on 5 among the guys. David who's never played basketball before slammed in a lot of dunks, winning the game for their side... 7-0. I'm left speechless.

We returned the ball then walked over to the Paddock (sounded like that) with intentions of playing archery, however after a long walk there we were disappointed. Apparently archery was closed on that day, however there was horseback riding. There were a few horses there and one of the horses kept swaying its head from left to right, right to left.... we called it the ecstacy horse. Poor animal, its neck was bared of fur cos it scraped it against the wooden piece. Maybe was trying to commit suicide? I'll try to acquire the photos and the really funny video shoot taken soon. We started making our way back to the entrance where we first came. The guys were really eager to go jungle trekking, so we took the jungle trail. It was pretty fun, some of the girls (Jebbrine, Mun Yee and Alex) didn't want to go though the jungle trail so they took the road and waited for us. We had drinks after coming out, watched some tv... chatted a lil, then made our way back to the entrance. All in all it was a really fun and relaxing trip. All along really wished I could bring Carl Lin along... maybe someday.

We got 2 vans to bring all 19 of us down.... however, we reached there a little early, so all of us shopped for souvenirs. Its really dumb that more than half of the items in the shop didn't have the words "Frazer's Hill" on them... sheesh! When it was time to go back, we got into the vans... 7 of the girls and Alex and Wei Ming went into one van and the remaining 10 of us in the other. I felt car-sick like 10 minutes into the journey and it just got worse... the driver was mad I tell you! Here we are, 10 of us packed into the van like sardine going down a winding road... and he never braked at the corners!! Accelerating downhill all the way like he was rushing to be reborn or something, sheesh!! I got really really sick, and tried sleeping but didn't help much... I threw up the moment I got down from the van. A lot of us didn't feel very well either. We had dinner at a Chinese restaurant and then headed home. That night we all went to the guys' house to play mafia again. It was fun. ^_^

And that's all about my adventure in Frazer's Hill. I'd really love to visit it again sometime in the future. Cheers!

Back from KKB

Yay, I'm finally back home from KKB. It was a fun experience for me afterall! Made lotsa new friends and did lotsa fun stuffs. Lets see...

On the Sunday evening (23rd January), I boarded the bus at around 5pm. I sat beside Ronald and we chatted for a while before going to sleep. The trip was a pretty long one, we reached there at 6 something. The warden briefed us on the availability of food and entertainment around the place and we soon got the keys to our respective houses. My housemates were Wei Shen, Wei Ming, Ronald and David. At night we all walked to town for dinner... it was a pretty long walk, took about 30 minutes to get to town. Had dinner at a mamak stall, then roamed the town for a bit. Some of them went shopping for necessities at the grocery stores before we headed home. We then played cards till it was pretty late before going to sleep. I had the whole room to myself, however it was really warm and hard to sleep at night. I eventually fell asleep and that was how I spent my first night in KKB.

So well, the next day (Monday, 24th January) we had to be posted at the KKB Community Clinic... The bus came to pick us up at 7:30am. At the first stop the group A members were dropped off, and supposedly some of us too... but somehow the bus driver called us back up and told us that this wasn't the community clinic of KKB. So... we went back up and ended up at a place called Klinik Kesihatan Kuala Kubu Baharu. Sounds correct? Well, we went in... apparently, the doctors didn't seem to be around. So we walked around and watched nurses tending to mothers bringing their babies and stuffs. Strangely that's all there were... post-natal moms with their babies. We asked Timothy to send a message to Miss Tana the moment we discovered that there were no doctors. About 1 hour later, at 10 something. Miss Tana called and sounded really really furious. The reason? We were at the wrong place at the wrong time... sheesh!! Stupid bus driver! We all walked back to the hospital, which was about 30minutes away. Fortunately we didn't get any scolding because Miss Tana discovered that it was the bus driver's fault.

David and I were assigned to observer a doctor. Her name was Dr.Ng, along with a Chinese Staff nurse which seemed pretty experienced. Dr. Ng was pretty helpful and told us about some stuffs. Both doctor and nurse were enthusiastic about us medical students and tried to help in every way they could. However quite on the contrary, the doctor which Jebbrine and Sally were assigned to (Dr. Leong) seemed really unmotivated to work. Seems he even said that he regretted becoming a doctor... well, if the country's gonna be filled with these kinda doctors in the future... I'm gonna have good business coming in if I have a clinic =P

I don't know really... perhaps some people were being forced into becoming a doctor. As for me, it was the matter of personal choice. Even though sometimes I felt that it isn't something for me, maybe a little regretful... I really don't mind becoming a doctor. Its not really a bad profession... here in Malaysia, there's bound to be a job somewhere as a doctor. So far there's always a shortage of doctors in the government sector. Not really surprising... like duh! Professionals practising in private hospitals get like 3 times as much pay as compared to those working with the government. So you be the judge. I'd quit the moment I've done my 3 years of compulsory service under the government. Why? Lets compare

Government :-
- guaranteed job (iron rice bowl, like the Chinese say =P)
- more cases to attend to (probably beneficial for the first few years)
- longer hours (good for workaholics)
- low(er) pay (need I say more?)
- get all the benefits of being a government servant, like pensions, government loan, bla bla bla (probably good)

Private :-
- less cases (more tea-breaks? =P)
- relatively shorter hours
- 3 times as much pay
- yada, yada, yada.... I'm going private, no doubt.
And unless the government introduces a huge pay-raise to government serving doctors, there will ALWAYS be a deficit of doctors in government hospitals.

Well, back to the point... I would see myself as one of the doctors who are enthusiastic about future fellow doctors in the training. So far, all the medical staffs I've come across seemed to be very supportive and helpful to medical students... Sunny even got a discount, only having to pay 20 bucks to see a specialist (private).

The bus came at 4pm to take us back to the houses we're staying in. I bathed, napped a while until 7pm then went with the whole bunch to eat in town. Today we went to a chinese restaurant to eat. It was Mun Yee's birthday yesterday, so Ben Shen and some of the guys bought her a cake (from all of us). We celebrated, and after dinner went to buy waffle ice-cream. We went to play snooker. Only 5 people though, the rest of them went walking around shopping for stuffs. So, Wei Ming, Alex, Ben Shen, Hai Fon and I played. Its my first time playing, found that its much harder than pool, the table's a lot bigger... but it was fun though. We all planned to go to Frazer's hill the next day, as it was Thaipusam. That night we played mafia till late into the night. Fun fun!

Moody me....

Woke up feeling really lousy... so I went back to sleep... well not really sleep, just lying around on my bed. My mind was clouded with thoughts on what to bring for the KKB trip... Finally mustered the strength go get my lazy ass off the bed to do the last things before leaving... Damn, feeling so moody. I'm leaving in an hour's time and I still haven't gotten my things packed! Grrrrr.....

Gonna miss home... gonna miss my darling... gonna miss my friends... gonna miss my computer... and my bed... on second thought, I want a new bed. Sheesh =P

Don't feel like going... why must they do this to me! Can't they just have me posted like.... somewhere nearby IMU where I don't have to stay overnight? Bleh... no point in lamenting. Gonna go there and beat down those lonely days... its only for 5 days... sigh....

I'm signing off..... until 5 days from now. Lessons went on pretty smoothly today. When it was over, my lady boss said she wanted to talk to me. She asked me about her daughter's progress in which and whether I wanted to teach her sons as well... however her sons are doing their subjects in Chinese, of which I know little of. So, I said I'll think about it. Not a bad idea for extra income really... just wonder if I can.

I drove to Summit after that to meet up with Carl Lin. Reached there at about 12:40pm and decided to watch Crazy n' the City. It was a good movie, about a young aspiring policewoman (Joey Yung), a police senior who seems to have lost passion for his job (Eason Chan) and a guy who went crazy due to business failure. Some parts of it were humourous, others were really tragic... the ending was pretty good, ^_^

After the movie, we went to meet up with her friends at KFC and went on to play pool soon after. Carl Lin went to buy books leaving us guys to play pool. I partnered with Jian Wan against Sien Fong and Carl Lin's 'nephew' (forgotten what name la =P). I played pretty well, it was fun that I could actually hit balls into holes...and some were hard shots too. ^_^ we won 3-1 out of 4 games.

Got hungry after that and went to McD with Carl Lin... didn't feel like going back though... cos its gonna be a long, long time before I see her next. I was an idiot while looking for my car! I set in my reminder that I parked at C43... but went in circles looking for C34 which doesn't seem to exist! Sheesh..... super blur. On my way home, I started dozing off and swerved from lane to lane..... tried listening to the radio loudly but that didn't help much. I finally stayed awake when once I swayed into the fast lane and a car behind horned at me. The rest of the trip was pretty uneventful, but I was feeling tired...

I don't like the idea of having to go to KKB... I don't know many among my group... just hoping I'll get along with them just fine. Yew Weng called me a few times through, asking if I wanted to sleepover at Chris' house tonight. Didn't expect mom to allow so but she did, however Chris was having a big dinner tonight and going out tomorrow so it had to be postponed to some other day.

Day out in Subang

Tuition today was okay, taught about cells... its pretty challenging, as the first question I asked (Do you know what are cells?) was replied with 'no'. And well, that was a pretty large hurdle to jump across. I guess I eventually did get what I wanted to teach into my tutee's head =P

After that, I went to pick Chee Leong, Chris, Yew Weng and Jin Weng and we went to Subang to hang out (hang kai, jalan-jalan, whichever...). Reached there at about 2:10pm or so... it was quite fortunate to have gotten a carpark without going through too much trouble searching. We went to the food court across Taylor's and Inti college where Cho was waiting. I went to see Carl Lin a bit, then rejoined my friends for lunch. After lunch, we went to a cybercafe... I thought of reparking my car, but ended up parking back just a few slots nearer... having wasted so much of time. We played till about 6 something, then went to have drinks at a nearby dessert shop. I had honeydew milk tea ^_^

We chatted for quite some time there, and then went to the Taylor's Business School building to play pool. Had dinner at a mamak... everyone had double special chicken burger =P

Its a tiring but fun day. I somehow feel like time is running short... well must be the foreboding KKB trip. Lets see what's been going on in my life the past few days....

Yesterday, I woke up at about 10:15am and was just coming downstairs... blur blur.... and mom asked me to tuition her friend's daughter. So I said okay, and started right away at 10:30am. My tutee's name is Low Hsin Yang (or something like that) and her mom's office is just near-by, across the road. My parents just dropped me off there and I got started. At that time I was thinking... geez, my first time teaching tuition... felt kinda nervous, but well... things turned out fine. I wonder if its the skills acquired from PBL =P

As for today, I had to babysit bro... fetched him from kindergarten at 12pm and went straight to Subang to see Carl Lin. Went home at 2, but reached home at 3:30 or so... ran out of petrol, had to pump some. Been sleeping pretty much all the while before this post. Mean ole cough back to haunt me... *sob* *sob*

Holidays, again! ^_^

Its been 2 days of not posting... been exhausted with exams and all. First off, on the night of the day I went to the community clinic (12th Jan), I had a nightmare about having gangrene on my right foot... and it got necrosized so bad that I had to get it amputated. I tell you, its emotionally traumatizing... not being able to do things which I previously could... like driving - in my dream I got into a pretty serious accident... cos I couldn't control my foot. And then I was stuck in the wreckage, and people we crowding around but no one came to help... instead they laughed at me. For some reason I just wanted to die there and then. I wouldn't really consider this as first hand experience... but it puts me in a position to empathize upon those who've had to get amputation because of gangrene from diabetes and hypertension. I woke up from terrible shock at 2am that night... touched my feet over and over again to make sure they were there, what a relief! Sheesh.... seen too many amputees and gangrenes in community clinic visits...

The CVS exams on Thursday went pretty okay...... until the course coordinator gave us the answers for the questions after we handed up our papers in the feedback session. Gah! It was horrible... I sure hope I can pass. I stayed up till 4:30am to work on my PBL presentation.

PBL on Friday went pretty well for me, I received pretty good comments from Hafiz and Wei Shen that I've improved as compared to the past. Also got some constructive critisism from Baxter that I was being pretty monotonous in my presentation. Oh well, I'll work on my presentation skills somemore. Today's probably the last PBL session with Dr. Lawrence... its pretty sad, the thought that our new fascilitator might be someone who doesn't care much for us achieving what we were supposed to from PBL's and would rather go home sooner. Eve suggested that we set down some ground rules to ensure that we don't stray away and deteriorate. Hopefully we'll get someone better ^_^

So after PBL, I went to Taylors to see Carl Lin but didn't get much time with her... I was 15minutes late, having to hand in my claims letter for driving to Nilai. It didn't help that I couldn't find a single parking spot around at SS15... how sad. Went to Yew Weng's house after that. It was supposed to be some sort of a LAN party, but Sunny and Chee Leong didn't turn up... along with their laptops >.< so... it was just Chris, Lock, Yew Weng and I... along with Chris' laptop and Yew Weng's scarily static computer....

As for today, I've just done washing mom's car... nothing much going on, feeling pretty tired... guess I'll finally be getting more rest

Tired....

I'm so exhausted, feel like collapsing to sleep right now... Been to Nilai community clinic this morning, was really sleepy all throughout both journeys. Hafiz and Arathi followed my car, whereas the rest went with Wei Shen. Marilyn didn't come, for some reasons unknown to me... but we signed her attendance in the log book anyway. Ahh what good friends we are =P. Didn't do much there, today was hypertension out-patient day... just saw the family medicine specialist diagnosing patients and stuffs.

Slept in the library for like 1 hour when I got back to IMU, then studied my note abit. It was hard to absorb the lecture today cos I was feeling tired, towards the end mind was just drifting to blankness.... hate puting up late nights, one of these days I'll just go to sleep early and get all rested up... as for tonight.... don't think there'll be any of that.

Miserable Me

I'm just back from Uni, wasn't quite awake during lectures today... After the lectures there was this briefing about the community clinics I have to visit during my rotation... and to my dismay, I not only have to be at KKB for 3 days for the hospital posting but also have to go there on the first week itself for 4 days (supposed to be 3, but thanks to Thaipusam.....=.= )

Now, I don't like the idea of going so far away for 5 days, having to leave on Sunday evening.... Grrrrrrrrr!! Not that I don't welcome the chance to gain new experiences and all... seeing that Sunny changed a lot during his stay makes it something worth looking forward to. Just hate to be away from home, away from friends, away from my comp, my bed.... yeah... I'm a computer junkie, and I'd rather live in comfort than evade mosquito bites all night long at the hostels provided in KKB... I'm still considering if I wanna drive there, afraid I might get lost following the bus. Oh well, if I do drive there I guess I've got a list of people I'd wanna bring along in my car... my orientation group members and PBL mate. Things aren't even finalized yet, I don't even wanna bother with it until after my CVS exams.

For the group assignment thingie which we were all supposed to do, I didn't get into a group at all! Its my fault... being quiet when I'm amongst a crowd composed mainly of people whom I don't know. Sigh... I'll eventually get a group. Just feel lousy about myself... I have absolutely zero socializing skills. Sometimes I really wonder how I got myself such wonderful friends, those around me... I guess sometimes situation just calls for it ^_^

Have to go to Nilai Community clinic again tomorrow.... ahh well, its just a waste of time really. I wonder if this time we'll have a longer tea break =P

Living life, med student style

I slept pretty late last night, couldn't quite fall asleep till almost 5 in the morning... when I finally fell asleep, Kok Chuan nicely called me up at 8:45am asking if there was PBL or not..... >.<

For that brief moment, in my blurriness... I had thought that I was mistaken, and that PBL was at 8:30am instead of 12:30pm..... bleh. Oh well, I'd like to see his reaction later =P

Just eaten lunch, was wondering how come there was so much rice that it seems endless... apparently mom ordered an extra large rice on top of it. Feeling so full now, and tired too... I have to fight to stay awake in classes today. Its nearing exams, can't afford to lose out a single bit... guess sweets will be my only pals in this.

Looking forward to the one week of holidays I have next week and also the rotations, which are practically holidays. Been wondering how I was gonna present it, hadn't been confident about doing stuff out of memory and knowledge. Lately Dr.Lawrence has been pointing out my habit of reading out from the paper rather than explaining stuffs which I should have already known well in the first place. So well, I reached IMU at 8:35, and went on to photostate the notes for my presentation... I found Marilyn and Jin-Yu already there so tumpang'ed them to photostate my notes =P

Dr. Lawrence turned up late... oh well, everything has its first. I waited for my turn to present, formulating the words to say and stuffs... I did a pretty okay job I guess. ^_^

Surprisingly after Hafiz's presentation, they threw a surprise party for Marilyn (her b'day yesterday)... brought cake, food and all. So well, had a feedback session and I'm pretty glad I improved.... don't have the fluency which Eve has but I guess that can be touched up on. The session dragged out long with Dr. Lawrence sharing valuable experience about his time in IMU and his views about PBL. I couldn't make it to Taylors to see Carl Lin at 11, so I decided to go at 2...

Went to see Ms.Ong to have a chat, then went to library to study. At 1:20 I left for Subang... the roads are pretty much changed, with constructions going on here and there.... Met up with Carl Lin for a while, until 3... then she had to leave home with her friends.

On my way home... I foolishly got lost and ended up going through 3 unnecessary tolls totalling up to RM4.70. Now guys and girls out there reading my posts.... let me explain to you all what I learnt in lecture about 'locus of control' from Dr. Paul Jambunathan's lecture....

There are two types of locus of control.... the inner locus of control, and the outer locus of control.... People with inner locus of control feel they have control of themselves, and whatever happens is because of them and that they are able to make a difference..... If I were someone with an inner locus of control, which I think I am... I'll put the blame on myself for being such a bloody idiot... and if I were someone with an outer locus of control, I'd go on bitching about the fucking government putting up so many tolls without clearly indicating where I'm heading for, which I'm going to do right now cos I'm losing control.....

ARGHHHHHHH!!!!!! So damn pissed!! Bloody transport ministry, or whomever it regards! Raised the toll rates again.... and then nicely putting up USELESS highways like the New Pantai express highway in which the number of users can be counted on the fingers of one hand..... that includes me, the idiot who unknowingly fell victim to it.... >.<

Not to mention having 2 tolls so close to each other charging RM1.60 each! Its like.... go in RM1.60, go out another RM1.60.... where's the justice in this world!?

Bah, enough of my ranting.... I'm just an idiot, that can be changed.... the government....even if it could be changed, nothing will improve.

Anniversaries

Anniversary.... comes from the word annual, which means yearly. It is usually associated with something we celebrate yearly, although some people tend to celebrate anniversaries monthly, bi-monthly, weekly, bla bla bla. There are many types of anniversaries... wedding anniversary, birthdays, company anniversary, relationship anniversary, and the list goes on...

Dates, there are many important ones in a person's life. Those which mean something special to themselves, sometimes could be painful, and sometimes its of someone special to them. Right now in my mind, I wanna imbue the 10th of December into the back of my mind... and erase the memories of this day many years ago.

I'm naturally an optimistic person, and I don't usually linger over sadness for extended periods of time... two days back, I came across some random guy's blog... http://forcezone.blogspot.com/

I stopped to wonder... have I been taking things too lightly? Am I supposed to still be greiving over the past? I went through pretty painful times, gone through the pain and greiving a few times... and I think there has to be a point where a guy snaps out of that crap. I've first seen Pak Lun go through it, then going through it myself... this self-destruction is something only the said person can pull himself out of. There are so many lost souls out there... because of love. At the same time, there is happiness and fulfillment which love brings. The take-home message to everyone reading out there... love with all your heart, don't hold back... when it ends, there's no turning back... but as long as there is nothing to regret about... move on with life, because whether you like it or not... life goes on. Sometimes we stare so intently at a door that just shut us out that we don't realize there are others staring at our door, waiting for it to be opened.

p/s: Love you Carl Lin!

Today is another day

I just woke up, woulda been rushing PBL again by now but Kok Chuan informed me last night that it was postponed to 8:30am on Friday.... sheesh.... now I've to waste my time going all the way to uni on Friday just to attend PBL.

CVS exams coming up next week, I sure hope I'll do fine... feels like there's a heck lot which isn't in my mind yet... ahh well. Just back from the Nilai community clinic. I woke up at 6:50am cos I was being too lazy... and nobody bothered calling me up. Left house at 7 or so, but it was pretty jammed... so I took the alternative road. Drove pretty fast as I was supposed to reach there by 7:30, but it turned out Wei Shen was later then I was, hehe.

We left at close to 8, with Kok Chuan, Wan Noraida and Arathi in my car. The trip to Nilai was pretty dull... nothing much to sightsee. At 8:35 we signed in, and basically did nothing much... Marilyn and I went to the counter, searched for patient files. Then later interviewed one patient before it was tea time..... tea time?? I didn't know there was such thing... >.<''

We went to the mamak, ordered food and drinks... and stayed there to talk till it was 10:30... gosh, of the 3 hours of supposed clinical visit we actually spent one whole hour at the mamak. Guess there wasn't really much to do anyway and the medical assistant woulda been glad to shoo our asses off. =P

At 11:30 we left for IMU. Kok Chuan asked to drive so I agreed... its tiring driving anyway. And well.... here I am.

Gonna hit the notes now

What a bad start for the year!

Arghhhhhh today was really stressful and depressing... In my haste to Uni, I missed lunch... PBL went pretty okay.... and then had lunch with Evelyn, Jin-Yu and Baxter. Classes weren't good at all..... felt so tired I was asleep for most of the first two lectures... I really hate when that happens! Grrr.... well I forced myself to stay awake through the third one, about IHD and MI... mind was wandering from time to time.... absolutely no concentration at all. Things are just so damn depressing when I'm feeling so tired I can't get anything done.... anything but sleep.

And then there's this clinical visit to Nilai tomorrow... have to wake up at 6 or so. Wonder if there are any interesting cases to clerk tomorrow... or else I might end up copying Sunny's patient histories =P

Who do you look for? Intriguing question...... They were bowling when I arrived, so basically just watched them bowl. Ahh well, playing is much more fun than watching as with any other sport. We went to play pool after that, which wasn't too bad an experience for me. I could actually hit the balls... much better than my previous attempts at it, hehe....

After that we just walked around to the food court... seems the guys actually smelled their way to the food court... wooo, they must have keen senses..... yeah right. An then at 2:30 we got to the cinema and watched Meet The Fockers, it was really funny. Especially when the lil kid said his first word... Assshh Hoooole, which was the only word he said all along. =P

Enjoyed spending time with my darling, it was a nice outing. On my way home I got a lil lost... but eventually found my way home. I started feeling really tired... sorta dozed off a little, scary experience. I kept telling my mind, 'stay alert, reach home then sleep' but just kept having lotsa phasing outs. Oh well, here I am in one piece... posting yet another entry. I wonder who actually reads my blog anyway =P

So tired..... zzzzzzzzzz. Oh yeah and hungry too.....

Its a nice day to be alive ^_^

Happy New Year!

Hmmm, well.... what do I say.... went to Yew Weng's party last night bringing bro along. Basically most of the time there was spent trying to fix his computer, so we didn't really do much... at around 11pm I sent bro home, then went to cyber cafe with Chris, Sunny, Chee Leong, Lock, Cho, Leong and Yew Weng. As Chris said, its kinda sad though..... we spent new year's day not even counting down at a mamak store but playing warcraft in a cyber cafe instead. Sheesh.

We played till like 2:30am, and I was ready to go back, Chee Leong wanted to go mamak... among the 5 of us (Chris, Yew Weng, Sunny, Chee Leong and I) majority vote for mamak so we went to the one right across the old Apex building. There we mainly chatted about Medicine and studies and I can clearly remember Chee Leong saying "I'M BORED! Like this I wanna go back already". And hence we talked about Fatal Frame 2 instead, well I know nuts about it, so just listened lor. by 4:30 we checked the bill and went off... I sent Chris and Yew Weng off, and surprise surprise... Yew Weng's house gate and door was locked and he didn't have keys.... so he came over to my place to sleep, which he is doing right now at this moment. I'm starting to feel tired... well not really tired or sleepy, but rather groggy and drowsy... phasing in and out of blankness... I wonder if I'll be sleeping the whole day off.... what a way to spend New Year's day.....

Dear dear, I'm so sorry I didn't really get to chat with you or anything yesterday. Hope you're not upset with me yeah...

p/s: Happy New Year everybody!!

Feeling lazy..... I need a life

I actually woke up close to 1pm... not really surprising considered the fact I slept at almost 8. Didn't do much really, yet another day wasted just bumming around. I don't think Yew Weng'll be playing TFT tonight... given the computers woes he's having right now. Ahh well, things are just plain boring... when there's no holidays its boring + stressful... hmmmm I wonder which is better =P

I still have quite some catching up to do regarding studies... ain't feeling too good about screwing up my summative one... and I don't think I did too well in summative two either. Studying in IMU just sucks, self-directed learning it seems..... bleh! Then again if there were 8 hours of lectures per day, I'm sure I'll be seeing a lot of 'chao gong'. Some lecturers are fun and interesting, others just got this really, really monotonous voice... hypnotic too. arghhhhh!!

I need to get a life, I need more uni friends..... not that the ones I already have are bad, they're great people and all... but sometimes I get lonely studying... group studying? nothing of that sort. Scary, strict tutor Dr. Francis Achike claims that's the best way of studying, to extract as much data possible within the shortest time.... nobody seems to wanna study in a group, I guess its a built-in method of studying which everyone has. Cramming everything all by your lonely selves.... Guess that's how things'll go around here for the next 2 years in Bukit Jalil campus. I'm really looking forward to switching from the Partner Medical School (PMS) program to continue my studies in the Seremban teaching school. Heard from Ms.Ong that the people there are closer and more friendly, with helpful seniors... sounds like a dream to me. No foreign universities would accept me anyway, with my pathetic results... not the ones I'd wanna go to anyway.

Well, that's pretty much all the ranting and crapping for now.
